Community Service Day offers many opportunities for volunteers

October 11, 1991

If your neighbors are too busy to visit tomorrow, it may be because they are participating in Maryland's third annual Community Service Day, volunteering their aid to many projects: building ramps for wheelchair users, feeding the hungry, raking leaves for seniors. Anyone can take part. Here are a few events scheduled tomorrow:

* Donate canned food or 25 cents for admission to a garage sale and flea market to benefit the Assistance Center of Towson Churches, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the garage, level 5, at the Baltimore County Public Library, Towson Branch, on Chesapeake Avenue. The sponsor is the Towson Business Association. Call 887-6166 for information.

* The Belvedere Community Association will build a walkway and plant shrubs and trees to prevent shoreline erosion at Belvedere Community Beach in Arnold. The project is funded by an Anne Arundel County grant. The project will begin at 8:30. Coordinator: Gloria Smith, 544-0024.

* A reception is planned at 10 a.m. at the Manchester Town Municipal Building in Carroll County to honor many area volunteer groups.

* The Dunbar High School Key Club will serve food to the homeless at the Bethel AME Church in Baltimore. The project begins at 8 a.m. Coordinator: Alfreda Robinson, 396-9481.
