Home Toxics Drop-off

October 10, 1991

The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works will sponsor its seventh annual Household Hazardous Waste Drop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Department of Public Works, 1 Harry Truman Parkway, off Riva Road, near Annapolis, and the Fire Department Headquarters on Veterans Highway (Old Route 3) just north of Benfield Road in Millersville.

The safest way to transport this material would be to placeit carefully in the trunk of the car or some similar place where it will not come in contact with the driver or passengers. If possible, keep the products in their original containers so they may be identified.

Be careful not to mix different products or place them in such a way that they come in contact with each other.

Upon arrival at thedrop-off location, show your driver's license for identification andthen drive to the unloading area, where a certified chemist will remove the waste from your vehicle. Plan to spend at least 10 to 15 minutes at the location.

In return, residents will receive "Household Hazardous Waste Wheel," which describes the ingredients of certain products, identifies preferred disposal options and offers tips on the use of alternative and environmentally safe products.
