Interim Pastor Chosen

WESTMINSTER — The Rev. Leland Wilson is serving as interim pastor at the Westminster Church of the Brethren.

A native of Oklahoma, he has served pastorates in Kansas, California and Pennsylvania.

He is a writer and he has served on national staff positions withthe Church of the Brethren. Most recently, he was the director of the denomination's Washington office.

He also has served as the chair of the American Committee for the World Friendship Center in Hiroshima, Japan.

Wilson lives with his wife, Patricia, in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, where he has been employed as part-time director of Arundel Habitat for Humanity. He took over in Westminster Oct. 1.

Church activities this week include the pastoral search committee meeting at 7 p.m. today.

The senior high youth will sell vegetable soup at Fall Harvest Days at the Carroll County Farm Museum Saturday and Sunday.

The Mid-Atlantic District Conference will be Friday evening and Saturday at Timonium United Methodist Church. David Eberly,moderator of the Westminster congregation, will be moderator at the conference.

Moderator-elect Connie Davis from Westminster will be installed as moderator for the district for 1991-1992.

The congregation's elected delegates to the conference are Emma Gosnell, Mabel Mahanes, Louise Scalzi, Jeff Scott and church board chairman Ernie Rice.

"Genuine Repentance" will be the topic of Wilson's sermon during the 10:45 a.m. worship Sunday. Church school for all ages is at 9:30 a.m. and there is a children's church during worship.

The sisterchurch committee meets at noon Sunday.

The commissions will meet at 7 p.m. and the church board at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
