Rex Barney, the voice of Memorial Stadium for 22 years, is resting comfortably at Sinai Hospital after suffering a dizzy spell when leaving the stadium Friday night.

Barney, 66, will remain hospitalized for several days while undergoing a series of tests and will miss today's final game, according to Dr. Sheldon Goldgeier.

His condition is stable.

"Rex may not be here physically," said Orioles president Larry Lucchino, "but he is here spiritually and every other way. He is part of the heart and soul of the franchise and an unforgettable part of Memorial Stadium."

Chris Ely, weekend sportscaster at WJZ-TV, is serving as the public address announcer for the final two games.
