Baseball AL -- President Bobby Brown reduced the 3-game suspension of Cleveland Indians IF Carlos Martinez to 2 games, allowing him to play on the final day of the season. Martinez had been suspended for charging the mound after he was hit by a pitch by the Kansas City Royals' Kevin Appier on Aug. 2.

Chicago Cubs -- Agreed to terms with SS Shawon Dunston (.260, 12 HRs, 50 RBI, 21 steals) on a $12 million, 4-year contract.

Cleveland Indians -- Announced that third-base coach Rich Dauer (former Baltimore Oriole), bullpen coach Luis Isaac, pitching coach Mark Wiley (former Orioles pitching coach) and coaching assistant Billy Williams will not return to the club next season. Offered Isaac, Wiley and Williams other jobs in the organization. Named Gordie MacKenzie advance scout. Announced that hitting coach Jose Morales (former Oriole) will return and bullpen coach Dom Chiti (former Orioles minor-league coach) has been asked to return to the coaching staff in an unspecified capacity.

Texas Rangers -- Fired assistant coach Davey Lopes.

Tacoma Tigers -- Class AAA team announced the retirement of GM Stan Naccarato. Named Frank Colarusso GM.

Basketball Cleveland Cavaliers -- Signed G John Morton.

Houston Rockets -- Signed G Vernon Maxwell to a 4-year contract extension.

Miami Heat -- Signed C-F George Ackles, C Milos Babic, G Byron Irvin, G Phil Henderson and F Ron Moye.

New Jersey Nets -- Renounced their right to match Los Angeles' offer to F-C Jack Haley (5.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg), allowing him to join the Lakers. Haley, a restricted free agent with the Nets, signed an offer sheet from the Lakers on Thursday.

Seattle SuperSonics -- Signed C Rich King, first-round draft pick (14th overall), to a 4-year, $2.8 million contract.

Colleges Bentley -- Announced the resignation of AD Al Shields.

Fairleigh Dickinson -- Extended the contract of Tom Green, men's basketball coach, through the 1995-96 season.
