October 05, 1991

A corrections officer at the Baltimore City Detention Center has been charged with cocaine possession, state correctional authorities said.

Samuel L. Epps was arrested as he reported for work Thursday at 7 a.m. after he was searched by members of the Investigative Unit of the Division of Pre-Trial Detention and Services, who found a packet of white powder that later tested positive for cocaine. The investigation of Mr. Epps began after authorities received a tip, correctional authorities said.

Mr. Epps was suspended without pay.
