Joseph C. Gagliano Jr., 37, a Baltimore policeman

Joseph C. Gagliano Jr., a Baltimore policeman, died Saturday at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, where he had gone for treatment of cancer. He was 37 and lived in New Windsor.

Services for Police Agent Gagliano were being held today at the Stauffer funeral establishment in Frederick.

He was a member of the operations unit of the Northwestern District, where he had served for much of the time since joining the force in 1977.

Born in New York City, he was a graduate of Selden High School and Suffolk County Community College in New York and Glassboro State College in New Jersey.

He came to the Baltimore area in the mid-1970s.

He is survived by his wife, the former Deborah Hatch; a daughter, Laura Lee Gagliano; his parents, Marjorie and Joseph C. Gagliano Sr., both of Casselberry, Fla.; two brothers, Stephen Gagliano of Omaha, Neb., and Pasquale Gagliano of Casselberry; two sisters, Marjorie Mennona of Casselberry and Nancy Gingrass of Warrensburg, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
