Gunman Shoots Youth In Dispute At Restaurant

A 17-year-old boy was shot and seriously wounded outside a Pioneer City restaurant late yesterday afternoon.

Witnesses and police saidJimmy Cash appeared to be arguing with a gunman beside the Pioneer Seafood restaurant at the intersection of Pioneer Drive and Reece Road.

A witness, who asked not to be identified, said she heard one shot about 4:40 p.m. She said she went to the window of her home and sawCash lying on the ground with the gunman leaning over him.

The woman, whose home is next to the restaurant, said she saw the gunman kick Cash twice and fired at him two more times.

The gunman, described by police as a 17-year-old black male, got into a gray or blue Volkswagen Jetta and drove down Reece Road.

Cash was flown by state police helicopter to the Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition yesterday evening.

Police said they expect to make an arrest soon.
