October 02, 1991

A 7-year-old boy was killed yesterday when he was struck by a pickup truck while waiting for a school bus in Talbot County, state police said.

Charles Madison Royer Kleppinger of Sanderstown Road, Trappe, was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital at Easton and pronounced dead shortly after the 8 a.m. accident.

Police said Charles was waiting for a school bus when he ran onto Sanderstown Road to retrieve a ball and was struck by a westbound pickup truck driven by Darnell Murray, 32, of Royal Oak, who was not charged.

Christopher Kleppinger, the victim's father, said the boy had no pulse at the scene of the accident.
