Baltimore City

ROBBERY: Central District -- Charles Johnson, of the 2000 block of Poplar Grove St., reported he was in the 500 block of Water St. shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday when he was attacked by a man who struck him in the face and robbed him of $20 in cash. Police said a search of the area failed to find a suspect.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A resident of the 2400 block of Lakeview Ave. reported that someone broke into her home between Sept. 13 and yesterday and stole property valued at more than $1,000. Police said entry was gained by opening a front window.

THEFT: Central District -- Michael Mattinson, of the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Ave., reported that a man who was visiting his brother yesterday left and took with him several VCR tapes. Police said the tapes were valued at more than $100.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 900 block of Gorsuch Ave. reported that someone forcibly entered his home over the weekend and stole a VCR. Police said the property was valued at more than $400.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Victoria McGowan, of the 2300 block of Southern Ave., told police she was inside a home in the 1700 block of Carswell St. yesterday morning when someone stole her purse that she had left hanging over a chair. McGowan told police the purse contained cash and property, all valued at $100.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police were seeking two male juveniles in connection with the burglary of a home in the 1700 block of E. 30th St. yesterday and the theft of two 26-inch bikes and a third bike. Police said the bikes were valued at more than $300 and that entry was gained by breaking a pane of glass out of a kitchen window.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police said two men accosted two women on East Cold Spring Lane Sunday and robbed one of them of her cash and jewelry. Police said Nicole Jordan and Chersay Powell, both of the 1800 block of Argonne Drive, were walking together Sunday in the 1400 block of E. Cold Spring Lane when they were stopped by two men wearing scarves over their faces who ordered them to lie down on the pavement. Police said one of the men was armed with a handgun. Police said the men robbed Jordan of cash and jewelry, all valued at nearly $150, but took nothing from Powell.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Officials of the Courtyard Apartments in the 5600 block of Perdue Ave. told police that someone broke into the storage room and stole property and equipment valued at $100.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported property valued at more than $1,000 was stolen from a dwelling in the 3000 block of Harford Road after someone gained entry by breaking a window.

CUTTING: Northeastern District -- Bryant Poole, of the 1600 block of Northwick Road, told police he was in the 4400 block of Marble Hall Road around 9 a.m. yesterday when he was attacked by a man who cut him on the chest, neck and head with a knife. Police said the armed man fled the scene and that Poole was taken to an area hospital for treatment and was listed today in fair condition. Police said they had no motive for the attack.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Gregory Matthews, of the 1000 block of Woodson Road, reported he was riding his bike in the 6300 block of York Road Sunday night when he was accosted by a man who ordered him off his bike while implying he was armed with a handgun. Police said after Matthews got off the bike, the man robbed him of more than $100 in cash then ordered him to walk away from the bike. Police said the value of the 18-speed mountain bike was not known.

THEFT: Northern District -- Robert Beal, of the 4000 block of Roland Ave., reported that while his truck was parked in the 3000 block of Remington Ave., someone broke into the vehicle and stole a leaf blower. Police said the equipment was valued at nearly $450.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Richard Wiley, of the 1600 block of N. Bond St., told police he was walking in the 100 block of E. University Parkway around 11 a.m. yesterday when he was approached from behind by a man who shoved him aside and removed an envelope with a bank's logo from his coat pocket. Police said the envelope contained an undisclosed sum of cash and that the man escaped on foot.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Employees of the Villa Ridge Apartments in the 2400 block of Loyola Northway reported that someone broke into a vacant apartment and stole a refrigerator valued at $400. Police said entry into the apartment was gained by opening a sliding glass patio door.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 300 block of E. 25th St. that is undergoing renovation and stole a step ladder, several boxes of floor tile and four gallons of white paint. Police said the property was valued at more than $450 and that entry was gained through a first-floor side window.
