The Astronomy Club at Anne Arundel Community College will offer a free telescopic peek at star clusters and nebulae visible in the night skies of Anne Arundel County at 8 p.m. Sept. 30 at the observatory onthe Arnold campus.

CHILD-CARE COURSES

The State of Maryland has renewed its contract for another year with Anne Arundel Community College to provide free training for school-age child care.

Last year, 175 persons took part in 45-hour courses and six-hour workshops at the college. Courses satisfy state licensing requirements for those who seek employment as group leaders in child care.

Training covers such topics as mainstreaming school-age children with special needs; principals of starting, operating and managing a school-age facility; musical experiences; recreational games; and steps to promote a positive self image.

This fall, the county will have

29 school-age child-care training programs.
