Here are summaries of some recent Computing product reviews. Each product is rated on a scale of one to four, with one computer indicating poor and four indicating excellent:

FrameMaker 3.0, for Macintosh SE or later with at least 2 megabytes of RAM and hard disk drive. Macintosh II and at least 4 megabytes of RAM recommended. $795. From Frame Technology Corp., 1010 Rincon Circle, San Jose, Calif. 95131. (408) 433-3311.

FrameMaker offers more power than most personal computer desk-top publishing programs for creating and editing tables or equations and for handling long, complex documents. However, that power comes at the price of a high initial cost, high hardware demands and a complex interface with lots of menus, dialogue boxes and commands to master.FrameMaker 3.0Rating: 3 computers(These are reviews of shareware programs for IBM and compatible computers.) Shareware programs are available from computer bulletin boards and computer clubs. Users try them, then pay a fee to register them if they decide to use them regularly.)Print Plus. This handy printing utility does a lot of things well. It allows you to view the contents of files before you print them, tag a number of text files to be sent to your printer, and do copying, deleting and moving functions you'd expect to find on a hard-disk manager. It will even tell you how many pages your file will have under different formats. Its handiest feature is its ability to direct a log of files to your printer quickly and easily. We had a dozen long files that needed to be printed on our noisy dot matrix printer. With Print Plus, we selected the files, made sure there was enough paper in the printer and went to lunch. When we returned, our files were printed, although our co-workers had closed our office door to keep out the noise. To register, write Lambert Klein, 3853 Grace, Wayne, Mich. 48184.
