September 29, 1991

The following students in Baltimore and Baltimore County were among 15,000 semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition. The students, who represent the top half of 1 percent of high school seniors in Maryland based on results of the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, will go on to compete for about 6,100 merit scholarships to be awarded in the spring.

The 15,000 were selected from more than 1 million test takers. Those from Anne Arundel, Carroll and Harford counties have been listed previously in suburban sections of The Sun while the names of semifinalists in Howard County appear today in The Howard County Sun.
