North Oaks community has open house today

North Oaks, a $45 million life care community created on the campus of the old Mount Wilson State Hospital in Owings Mills, had its grand opening Friday and will have an open house today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Life Care Services Corp. of Des Moines, Iowa, is the developer and manager of the 189-unit facility, which is 83 percent sold out.

Around the region:

* Butchers Hill community activist Carolyn Boitnott and the Bethel AME William M. Smith Outreach Center were this year's recipients of the 1991 Frances Morton Froelicher Civic Statesmenship Award given by the Citizens Planning and Housing Association. The awards were presented last week at the association's th annual meeting.

* W. C. Pinkard & Co. has been named the exclusive marketing company for the sale and lease of the 126-acre Meadowridge Business Park in Howard County. A joint venture of Winchester Commercial Inc. and Crystal Hill Investments Inc. owns the business park, whose major occupants include Michelin Tire Corp., Reico Distributors and Moore Business Forms.
