New York Mets -- Announced GM Frank Cashen will step down at the end of this season and will remain as chief operating officer for 1992 and consultant for 1993. Promoted Al Harazin from executive VP to GM and Gerry Hunsicker from director of operations to assistant VP for operations. Activated OF Vince Coleman from the 15-day DL.

Basketball Golden State Warriors -- Signed G Clifford Scales to a 1-year contract.

Orlando Magic -- Agreed to terms with G Mike Morrison (Loyola College), F Adrian Branch (Maryland), G Kevin Williams, F Ricky Calloway and F Reggie Hanson.

Colleges Southern Cal -- Announced that senior starting FB Scott Lockwood underwent surgery for a knee infection and will miss 4 to 6 weeks. Raoul Spears will take Lockwood's position.

Football Philadelphia Eagles -- Placed TE Mickey Shuler (lower back) on IR. Signed TE Maurice Johnson to a 1-year contract plus an option year.
