Anna W. Beels, 86, a retired Remington's book store manager, died Monday at Baltimore County General Hospital of a heart ailment.
Funeral services were being held today at the Haight funeral establishment in Eldersburg.
Mrs. Beels, who had lived in Towson since the mid-1970s, retired in 1986 as manager of the Towsontown Plaza store after more than 60 years of service, during which she managed other Remington's stores and the warehouse and was a buyer.
The former Anna Witman was a native of Baltimore and a graduate of Western High School.
Her husband, Charles Harry Beels, a carpenter, died in 1940.
A resident of Howard Park before moving to Towson, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Forest Park and later the Woodbrook Baptist Church.
After her retirement, she was active in the auxiliary of the Baptist Home of Maryland and made many doll dresses for fund-raisers.
Survivors include a sister, Elva Flickinger of Towson; a brother, Joseph B. Witman of Baltimore; a niece, Cynthia Rohrer of Gaithersburg; and three nephews, Kenneth Flickinger of Gamber, David Flickinger of Edgewater and Anton Endler of Sykesville.
