Robert Simon

Robert Simon, 73, a retired partner in Howard County Supply Co., died Sunday at Johns Hopkins Hospital of cancer.

Funeral services were being held today at the Levinson funeral establishment, 6010 Reisterstown Road.

Mr. Simon, who lived on Peach Tree Court in Pikesville, retired in 1984 as a partner in the building supply company with which he had been associated since 1947.

In the late 1940s, he had been the owner of the North Avenue Plumbing Supply Co.

During World War II, he served in the Army Corps of Engineers in North Africa. Before the war, the Baltimore native worked in an electrical repair shop at the Mount Clare shops of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

A member of the Nathan Hackerman Lodge of B'nai B'rith, he was volunteer maintenance director of the Moses Montefiore Woodmoor Hebrew Congregation, a member of the board of the United Hebrew Cemetery at Lansdowne, and he did volunteer work at Baltimore County General Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, the former Rona Rief; three sons, Dennis Simon of Sparks, Arnold Simon of Catonsville and Marley Simon of Pikesville; a sister, Nettie Kramer of Pikesville, and three grandchildren.
