Science or stunt?

It's your call

September 25, 1991

Four men and four women are scheduled tomorrow to take up residence in Biosphere II, a man-made "world" where the air is clean and where they'll eat only food they produce. They're to stay for two years before returning to normal society. It's a commercial project whose merits are hotly debated by scientists.

Would you do it?

Do you think such an experiment is a worthy one scientifically -- or does it seem more like a stunt?

Call SUNDIAL, the Baltimore Sun's telephone information system, on a Touch-Tone phone. The call is local, and answers will be registered between 10 a.m. and midnight. The SUNDIAL phone number is 783-1800 or, in Anne Arundel County, 268-7736. When you reach SUNDIAL, enter category 4600 and wait for instructions.

Results will be published tomorrow.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinion but is not a scientific poll. Its results should not be construed as having scientific accuracy.
