September 24, 1991

A four-year veteran officer of the Baltimore County Police Department faced a suspension hearing today on a misdemeanor charge of stealing a part to a Honda motorcycle this summer.

Officer Donald Louis Fields, 26, of the White Marsh Precinct, was charged in a criminal summons yesterday afternoon with theft of a plastic cover that protects electrical components of a motorcycle engine. The item was taken at 5 a.m. Aug. 23 from a motorcycle parked in the 8600 block of Castle Mill Circle in Perry Hall, police said.

The theft occurred while Fields was on duty, police said.

The officer has been suspended with pay and stripped of his police powers pending the hearing, police said.
