Services for R. Barry Chase, a lifelong Baltimore resident, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the March Funeral Home, 4300 Wabash Avenue.
Mr. Chase, who lived in West Baltimore, died of cancer Saturday at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was 49.
A graduate of the Baltimore public schools, Mr. Chase worked for a variety of companies doing delivery work until his illness left him disabled.
He and his wife, the former Carol Smith, office manager of The Sun's Washington Bureau, were avid campers and belonged to the Good Sam Club, a camping group. Mr. Chase also enjoyed playing pinochle.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Chase is survived by a daughter, Chris Brown; a son, Darrick Chase; his mother, Arline Jackson; and a sister, Teri Jackson, all of Baltimore; and a brother, Adrian Jackson of Orlando, Fla.
