1990 record: No team
Newcomers:Senior Cindi Bagly; junior Briget Walters; freshmen Shaune Copeland,Sherri Edwards, Michelle Hausley, Rene Labbe, Tanya Lee, Andrea McWilliams, Dorene Rivers, Jessica Foler, Melinda Cattell and Lisa Simmons
FOR THE RECORD - Some of the information in the Fallston High cross country preview in the Sept. 22 issue of The Harford County Sun was inaccurate.
The article should have listed Kristin Svehla and Jessica Wolf as returnees to the team. Returnees Janine Cronk and Sarah Moore were omitted.
The article also should have included as newcomers Jennifer Seifert and Laurie Cicero.
Coach's outlook: "Our turnout of girls this season was just phenomenal. I'm just looking forward to competing as a team and molding and setting a precedence for the future. I want these girls to set thetone for the future and I think they will. They're all nice, personable, coachable young ladies, and I just hope they come back as sophomores. C. Milton Wright and Fallston will be tough to beat this year, but I think we'll be competitive with the rest of the field.
Harford County Sun outlook: Lack of interest led to the demise of Aberdeen's boys team this season, but an unprecedented 12 girls came out for Lewis' squad. Ten of the 12 girls are freshmen with no previous crosscountry experience, so don't look for too much from the Eagles this year. McWilliams is still nursing a foot injury, but could come into her own by the time the county meet rolls around.
BEL AIR BOBCATS
Head coaches: Alan Dean (fourth season) and Lucy Buxton (third season)
1990 record: Boys third in county and region; ninth in state
Returnees: Seniors Bryan Fitzpatrick, Clint Apland and Eric Bell; juniors Jared Leclair, Julie Foster and Craig Dubas; sophomores Colleen Akehurst, Tina Linz and Kathy Stitz
Newcomers: Junior Glenn Durfee; sophomores Tim Kwong, John Rollinger, Jeff Kuch, Mike Anderson, Norman Leung, Jason Savage, Kristin Streilein and Chrissy Anderson; freshmen Jimmy Everwien, Theresa Kwong, Greg Brennick and Lauren Fiorelli
Coach's outlook: "I think we'll be better at the end then we are at the start. We're a pretty inexperienced team, but we have a good bit of talent on both our boys and girls squads, and they are working real hard. The boys team has mostly the same guys back, so they should be ready to finish at least as well as last year. The girls will befun to watch.
Harford County Sun outlook: While Bel Air's girls team enters another rebuilding season, the boys team should reap the benefits of a veteran squad. Fitzpatrick and Stitz should set the paceand the Bobcats should have no trouble improving on last year's mark.
Head coaches: Donald Todaro (fourth season) and John Low (first season)
1990 record: Boys 0-5 in dual meet competition
Returnees: Senior Charles Reich; juniors Jim Morrison and DavidGoodman; sophomores Kenneth Tredway and Kelvin Ringold
Newcomers:Junior Rachael Bair; sophomores Matthew Brock, Robert Loss, James Fortier, Day Dove and Tim Andrews; freshman Eric Nelson, Willie Parrish, David Schimmel, Shinise Robinson and Dorothy Strater
Coach's outlook: "We have to say that this is a rebuilding season. Morrison is our main hope this year. He's our most promising 11th-grader and Tredway is our most promising 10th-grader. We have a good bunch a of kids and they're all hard workers. Since we're rebuilding, win and loss-wise I don't know what we'll look like. I think we have a lot of potential in the years to come from this team."
Harford County Sun outlook: Edgewood is slowly starting to attract the numbers that are mandatory for success in the sport of cross country. The Rams have a pair of contenders in Morrison and Tredway but will need some help from the rest of the pack if they wish to enjoy success this season.
Head coaches: Gary Trott (fourth season) and Carol O'Donnell (fifth season)
1990 record: Girls 9-1, first in county and region and third in the state; boys 6-5, fourth in county
Returnees:Seniors Chris Brundrett, Matt Shiloh, Raj Ayaggarri and David Lutz; juniors Ben Hall and Monica Beall; sophomores Ryan John, Doug Loyd, Brian Shroeder and Ray Grainger
Newcomers: Seniors Joe Wolfe, Kristin Svela, Amy Havener and Jessica Wolf; sophomore Laurie Cicerio and Shannon Stratmeyer; freshmen Jason Sayers, Todd Weller, Ben Bohl and Matt Waldron
Coach's outlook: "I'd like to see our boys go .500 again and I want to be in the top three in the county. We will be strong. If we can be in the top three, and if we can qualify enough runners to take a boys team to the states, I'll be real happy."
Harford County Sun outlook: Fallston's girls squad took a huge blow when Jenny Howard crossed the stage for graduation last June. However, the Cougars' female contingent returns a strong nucleus from last year's county and region champion squad. Fallston's boys team will rely on Halland Joe Wolfe, while Beall and Moore will pace Fallston's girls. Look for the Cougar girls to repeat as contenders, but the boys team mayrun into some rough going.
HARFORD TECH COBRAS
