Burton New Columnist

September 22, 1991

In more than 35 years covering outdoors for The Evening Sun, and nearly that long for The Sunday Sun, my pursuit of hunting, fishing and other aspects of outdoor life have taken me to Carroll County many times. Liberty and Piney Run reservoirs and the Monocacy River are among favorite fishing stops; many pleasant outings have been spent chasing raccoons in woodlands north and west of Westminster, and pheasantsnear Hampstead.

While continuing regular columns Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in The Evening Sun, today marks the first of Sunday outdoors columns for The Carroll County Sun. Carroll County and its outdoorsmen will be targeted, though at times this column will cover outdoor opportunities of interest to Carroll countians who travel elsewhere in the state.

There will be times when the opinions of this writer will be evident, but this column will always find space for those who disagree aswell as support those opinions. News notes and notices of meetings and other affairs of interest to outdoorsmen also are welcomed. When writing, be sure to include your phone number. Write Bill Burton, P.O.Box 430, Riviera Beach, Md. 21122, or call me at (301) 255-4182. Or,you may leave a message at The Carroll County Sun office by calling 857-0550 or 876-8771, or by FAX at 876-0233. My goal is a column for all who enjoy the outdoors.
