Vocalists to open JCC's Yale Gordon Concert Series
The Jewish Community Center's Yale Gordon Concert Series kicks off Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with a double recital by vocalists Allison Charney and Kelley Ruth. Mezzo-soprano Charney is a post-graduate student at the Peabody Institute and sang in Center Stage productions of "O Pioneers!" and "The Making of Americans." Soprano Ruth has been featured in Peabody Opera productions and appeared with Pro Musica Rara and the Baltimore Bach Ensemble.
The concert will be held in the Straus Auditorium of the JCC, located at 5700 Park Heights Ave. Admission is free, but tickets must be picked up in advance. Call 542-4900 for more information.
The Montana Logging and Ballet Company, which mixes political satire with musical performance in a manner similar to that of the Capitol Steps, will perform at 7:30 Thursday night at Centennial High School in Howard County.
The show will benefit Howard County Sexual Assault Center, a non-profit agency that provides services to victims of rape, sexual assault and child sexual abuse. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7.50 for children under 12. For more information call 964-0504 or 992-0035.
Fells Point Corner Theatre, 251 S. Ann St., opens its season Friday with Jon Klein's "T Bone N Weasel," a play about the misadventures of two petty crooks on parole in South Carolina. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m., with matinees Oct. 13 and 27 at 2 p.m., through Oct. 27. Tickets are $8.
