Three Cecil County residents were killed last night when two cars collided on Md. 272 near North East.

Two of the dead were a father and his son.Trooper Dana Carter of the North East Barracks said Danny Layne Tyree, 42, of the 100 block of Hearthstone Road in Elkton, was driving a 1983 Mercury Cougar south on Md. 272 at 10:50 p.m. when he lost control of the car on a curve just south of Warburton Road and crossed the center line.

Entering the opposite lane, Tyree's car crashed nearly head-on into a 1989 Mercury Cougar driven by Janet Ellen Hill, 47, of the 300 block of Wood Valley Road, Rising Sun.

Carter said the crash killed Tyree and his son, Jamie Martin Tyree, 14, and Hill's daughter, Teri Ellen Cook, 26, who lived with her.

Carter said Hill and her grandson, Raymond Cook, 2, who was in the back seat of his grandmother's car, were taken to Union Hospital in Elkton. The child was in stable condition today, while Hill was in serious condition.

Carter said the road was wet at the time.

Rescuers from area fire companies had to use cutting tools to free Tyree, his son and Hill, who were all pronounced dead at the scene.
