BG&E restores lines, then Carroll loses power

September 19, 1991

Just as the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. was finishing the job of restoring power to the thousands of customers blacked out by thunderstorms Tuesday night, it got hit by another round of lightning, wind and rain.

About 7,400 customers in Carroll County -- near the northwestern corner of BG&E's Central Maryland service area -- lost electrical power last night, said utility spokesman Art Slusark.

More than 40,000 BG&E customers lost their electricity in Tuesday night's thunderstorms. Work was under way on the last 200 or so customers when the new storm hit.

Three Baltimore County schools that were closed because of Tuesday's storm damage -- Loch Raven High, Parkville Middle and Lutherville-Timonium Elementary -- were expected to reopen today.
