McCormick & Co.

BY THE NUMBERS

September 17, 1991

McCormick & Co., the Hunt Valley company that dominates the spice industry, continued its recession-resistant record during the quarter that ended Aug. 31, posting a 16 percent gain over last year's third-period earnings.

Steven A. Rockwell, an analyst with Alex. Brown & Sons Inc., said McCormick's performance was in line with expectations. "Especially given the economic environment, the company is doing very well," he said.

While the rate of earnings-per-share growth was slightly lower than in the previous two quarters this fis

cal year, Mr. Rockwell said, that was mostly because "the first two quarters were great."
