The following county residents have graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.

During their six weeks of training, they studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs, and received special training in human relations. They also earned credits toward an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force.

* Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class George W. Hudson, the son ofLana L. Walker of Glen Burnie and grandson of James C. Messick of Bridgeport, Del.

* Airman Jeffrey M. Thew, the son of Ruth K. Butlerof Severn and Richard E. Thew of Baltimore. He is a 1988 graduate ofMeade Senior High School at Fort Meade.

* Air National Guard Airman Gilbert K. Phelps II, the son of Barbara F. Miller and brother of Laura J. Citro, both of Pasadena. He is a 1987 graduate of ChesapeakeHigh School in Pasadena.

HARTMAN GRADUATES

Marine 2nd Lt. Matthew M. Hartman, the son of David A. and Cathy Hartman of Millersville, recently graduated from Basic School at the Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Quantico, Va.

The 26-week course prepared him for assignmentto the Fleet Marine Force. He was instructed in land navigation, marksmanship, tactics, military law, personnel administration, Marine Corps history and tradition, communications and the techniques of military instruction. He also participated in a demanding physical conditioning program.

Hartman is a graduate of the University of Marylandat Catonsville who joined the Marine Corps in 1986.

CIATTO IN COAST GUARD

Coast Guard Fireman Apprentice Scott A. Ciatto, the son of Judy Payne of Annapolis, recently graduated from the Coast Guard Recruit Training Station at Cape May, N.J.

During the eight-week program, Ciatto studied first aid, Coast Guard history, seamanship, communications, damage control, fire fighting and physical conditioning.

He joined the Coast Guard in March.

SHEPET RECEIVES TRAINING

Technical Sgt. Andre Shepet Jr., a recruiter at Andrews Air Force base near Washington, D.C., recently graduated from an Air Force major command non-commissioned officer academy after receiving advanced military leadership and management training.

He is the son of Marie and Andre Shepet Sr. of Severna Park and is a 1975 graduate of Severna Park Senior High School.

VESSELS PERFORM ON BAY

Twelve U.S. Naval Academy yard patrol vessels will perform under way maneuvers in the Chesapeake Bay 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.

During the maneuvers, the 108-foot yard crafts will form a Navy "N", stretching 1 mile long and a half-mile wide. Approximately 24 officers from the academy's seamanship and navigation department will be practicing advanced tactical maneuvers.

EBERT LEARNS ARMOR

Pvt. Lawrence E. Ebert has completed an armor crewman course at Fort Knox, Ky., designed to teachhim to serve as a member of an armor unit in defensive and offensivecombat operations.

He is the son of Raymond Ebert of Eugene, Ore., and Yvonne Ebert of Annapolis. The private is a 1988 graduate of Sheldon High School, Eugene, Ore.

DINTINO IS INTERCEPTOR

Seaman Joseph A. Dintino Jr. has completed the electronic warfare signal intelligence Morse interceptor course at Fort Devens, Ayer, Mass.

A 1988 graduate of South River High School, in Edgewater, Dintino is the sonof Darlene M. and Joseph A. Dintino of Davidsonville.

His wife, Robin, is the daughter of Robert and Paula Barber of Davidsonville.

MACK ARRIVES IN JAPAN

Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Calvin J. Mack, son of Calvin and

Christine Mack of Glen Burnie, has arrived for duty at Yakota Air Base in Japan.

The sergeant is a 1972 graduate ofAndover High School.

WHITE COMPLETES ROTC

John A. White, son of Linda N. Lightbody and grandson of Norene C. Lightbody of Edgewater, has completed a U.S. Air Force ROTC training encampment at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

White, a student at the Virginia Technical Institute in Blacksburg, Va., is a 1989 graduate of Severna Park High School.

DAVIS RECEIVES WORK

Michael D. Davis received practical work in military leadership at the ROTC advanced camp.

Successful completion of the advanced camp and graduation from college results in a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Guard, or Reserve.

A student at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, in Tallahassee, Fla., Davis is the son of Oscar and Geri P. Davis of Hanover.

TIMMONS RECEIVES WORK

Timothy Timmons received practical work in military leadership at the ROTC advanced camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.

Successful completion of the advanced camp and graduation from college results in a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Guard, or Reserve.

Timmons is a student at Salisbury State University, and the son of James Timmons of Pasadena. He is a graduate of Northeast High School.
