Pukka Pride and Game Message were both 1-for-1 entering yesterday's sixth race at Pimlico Race Course. So you'd figure one of them had to find the loss column in the $16,500 allowance sprint.
But they both emerged with perfect records. The 2-year-old geldings hooked up in a furious duel from the quarter-pole to the wire, and at the wire, not even the photo-finish camera could separate them. They finished in a dead heat for first.
Later on the program, Polish Holiday won the $22,000 feature. Mario Pino rode the 3-year-old filly to a one-length victory over front-running Ballykelly and returned $4 to win.
Trainer Vinnie Blengs teamed with jockey Calixto Juarez to win twice on the 10-race card.
