Caught At Break-in, Boys Admit To Joy Rides

Two Severna Park youths, charged with breaking into a snowball stand, have told police they were responsible for several other thefts, including stealing a jeep for joy rides around Severna Park.

The two15-year-olds were arrested by an officer called to the snowball stand in the 400 block of Jumpers Hole Road at about 12:30 a.m. Monday.

The officer caught the boys leaving the stand and found that the door to the stand had pry marks on it.

Both boys were charged on juvenile citations with attempting to break into the stand, police said.

The police report said the boys admitted they first tried to break into the snowball stand in July.

While being questioned by investigators, the boys confessed to several other thefts in the area during the last few weeks. In two incidents, the boys said they took a jeep that was parked in front of a home in the 600 block of Kinsington Avenue and drove it around for the night before returning it.

The boys also told police they stole a cordless drill, a car phone and jewelry from other cars in the neighborhood. Thay also confessed to stealing mopeds, a ship-to-shore radio, a dingy boat and an outboard motor, police said.

They face additional charges of breaking and entering and felony theft, police said.


County police have charged two men with disorderly intoxicationafter officers broke up a fight in Meade Village on Tuesday.

Police said Otis Savoy, 24, of the 700 block of Wells Street in Annapolisand Calvin Johnson, 26, of Port Republic in Calvert County were arrested by officers called to the 1700 block of Mead Village Circle at about 4:30 p.m.

According to the police report, Savoy was swinging a bat at Johnson; when he saw the officers, he threw the bat down.

A crowd gathered as the pair continued to fight.

7600 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard: Tuesday, entry gained through door; appliances taken. Loss: Unknown.

First block of St. Agnes Road: Monday, entry gainedthrough window; unknown property taken.

1000 block of Cayen Drive: Tuesday, entry gained through door; unknown property taken.

Brooklyn Park

200 block of Audrey Avenue: Monday, entry gained throughwindow; bicycle and other property taken. Loss: $225.

Severna Park

400 block of Jumper's Hole Road: Monday, entry gained through door; nothing taken.

300 block of North Drive: Monday, entry gained through window; money and checks taken. Loss: $2,105.
