Sears Roebuck & Co. is recalling certain DieHard automotive batteries sold in Maryland, other Mid-Atlantic states and portions of New York.
Sears says that a manufacturing flaw in the top terminal could cause the battery case to crack and acid to leak. Some batteries may fail to supply power for starting or other electrical requirements.
The company says that no personal injuries have been reported.
For safety purposes and to avoid possible injury, customers are advised to review their sales checks for the model number rather than inspect the battery themselves.
