Electrical Failure Shuts Library

September 11, 1991

The Howard County central library was closed Sunday not because of economic failure, but because of electrical failure.

When people arrived to find the library closed, many assumed the county's financialcrisis had worsened and the summer Sunday closings were being extended into the fall.

Instead, it was an electrical problem with a transformer, said librarian Marvin Thomas. "There is no way in safety we could have opened," he said.

Most of the repairs have been completed, Thomas said.He expects the library to be open as usual Sunday.
