Pizza Hut is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to thearrest of two men who assaulted a store manager last week as he madea night deposit at Westminster Bank, county police said.

The victim, who is the store manager of the Pizza Hut shop in Lisbon, was making the deposit shortly before midnight Aug. 28 when one of two men struck him on the arm with an unknown object, police said.

Both men grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from the 21-year-old victim, who suffered a broken arm in the attack, police said.

The victim was treated at Howard County General Hospital and released.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call county police at 313-2266 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 276-8888.

2 MEN STEAL PURSE FROM WOMAN, 64

Two men stole a 64-year-old woman's purse Tuesday afternoon and then ran off as a police officer attempted to chase one of them, county police said.

The woman, from Columbia,was approaching the entrance to Owen Brown Place in the 7800 block of Cradlerock Way about 5 p.m. when one of the two men grabbed her purse, police said.

An officer in the area was notified, and moments later noticed a suspect in the area of Owen Brown Middle School and began chasing him, police said.

The officer lost sight of the man but spotted him again in another area near the school. Police said theofficer chased the man onto a bike path near Cradlerock Way, but thesuspect escaped.

Police had no estimate on the amount of money inthe purse. The woman was not injured.

2 MEN WITH GUN ROB HIGH'S STORE

Two men robbed an undisclosed amount of money Wednesday from a High's convenience store in Columbia, county police said.

The two men entered the store, in the 7600 block of Murray Hill Road, shortly before 2:45 p.m. and told two clerks to hand over money from the register, police said. One of the men then pointed a handgun at the clerks.

One of the employees handed over the money, and the two men left the area in a red Chevrolet compact car, police said.

ELKRIDGE MAN ROBBED AT U.S. 1 GAS STATION

A 25-year-old Elkridge man was robbedWednesday morning at a U.S. 1 gas station by a man who claimed to have a gun hidden in his shirt, county police said.

The victim was getting gasoline at the Meadow Ridge Exxon station, in the 7200 block of U.S. 1, at 5 a.m. when the man approached him and announced a robbery, police said.

Police said the man's hand was in his shirt, apparently ready to pull out a gun. The victim handed over an unknown amount of money.

After the man ran away, the victim chased him but soon lost sight of him, police said.

FREESTATE RACEWAY FIRES ARE 'SUSPICIOUS'

Two fires within eight days at the abandoned Freestate Raceway are under investigation by the state fire marshal.

No one wasinjured in the fires, which caused an estimated $2,000 damage. Battalion Chief Richard Freas described the fires as very suspicious.

The first, discovered just after midnight on Aug. 29, was confined to the old first aid building and remains under investigation.

After another call just after midnight on Sept. 6, firefighters discovered several fires burning in barns at the raceway. On arriving, firefighters found two barns on fire but 20 minutes later discovered another fire in a third barn. After extinguishing it, a fourth fire was discovered in a barn that had already been inspected.

Investigators say they have no leads in the case.

10600 block Little Patuxent Parkway: Sept. 3, a man stole a van at 11:30 a.m. while the van owner was talking on a nearby pay telephone.

9500 block Longlook Lane: Sept. 1, someone entered a house through an open kitchen window and stole a microwave oven.

9600 block White Acre Road: Aug.30, someone entered a home through an unlocked sliding glass door and stole a microwave oven and a telephone.

10500 block Twin Rivers Road: Aug. 29, a thief entered a house through the front door and stole a videocassette recorder, some frozen food and a machete.

Ellicott City

4200 block Montgomery Road: Sept. 3, several tires and a heat fan were stolen over the weekend from a storage shed.

12300 block Carroll Mill Road: Aug. 31, cash was reported stolen at 10 a.m. from an unlocked house.

3600 block Mount Ida Drive: Aug. 29, the owner of a home spotted a prowler at 3:45 a.m., who ran off before anything was taken.

Elkridge

6600 block Washington Boulevard: Aug.31, someone kicked in the door to a storage shed but nothing was reported missing.

Laurel

9600 block Barrel House Road: Sept. 1, a prowler entered an apartment sometime in the previous four days but nothing was taken.

Mount Airy

400 block Watersville Road: Sept. 3, someone entered an unlocked garage within the last two weeks and stole a chain saw.
