Western Maryland Terrors

1991 Volleyball Outlooks

September 08, 1991

Coach: Jolene Jordan Hoover, second year

Assistant Coach: Karen Loeber

Last year's record: 33-8 overall, won the Middle Atlantic Conference southwest section

Top returnees: Juniors, Jennifer Staub, Heather Wakefield, Sandra Hoelz

Top newcomers: Freshman, Carolyn Kelsey, Anne Plunkett, Krista Shaffer, Denise Spangler

Coach's comments: "They've really been working hard. The freshman are coming in and adding height. I think it's going to be a nice blend with the returning players."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: A definite rebuilding year for the Green Terrors who have no seniors returning. That shouldn't stop Western Maryland from having a successful season. The Green Terrors have plenty of talent. The young team contrasts with last year's champion, Juniata, which didn't lose a single player to graduation. When WMC plays them, like in "Rocky" they'll do well to go the distance.
