Top newcomers: Freshmen, halfback Christa Mose, forward Paula Moyer, halfback Michelle Smith

Coach's comments: "We have a lot of depth on the bench, which will really help the starters. This year things should be better."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: A definite rebuilding year for Western Maryland, which finished last year 4-7-1 overall. With only three returning seniors, the Green Terrors could find the going tough in the highly competitive MAC. The one bright spot is returning goalie Henemyre, who excelled last year. She can't carry the load all by herself. Senior fullback Gordon will help anchor the defense. Offensively, the Green Terrors must find somebody to put the ball in the net. Newcomer Moyer has looked good up front in practice and could be the answer. Themidfield will be very young with Walker the lone returnee with varsity experience. Halfbacks Mose and Smith are players to look out for in the years to come. A lot of other young players will get plenty of valuable experience which will help in the future. But for now, it looks like this team is still at least one year away from competing against the powerhouse likes of Franklin & Marshall, Elizabethtown and Messiah.
