Top returnees: Seniors, halfback Dave Layman, halfback Murray Valentine, halfbackDave Jordan, fullback Jeff Keefer, fullback Jon Cox, halfback Joe Wenck, halfback Chris Kurrle; juniors, fullback Jeremy Metcalfe, forward Paul Coale, goalkeeper John Engel

Top newcomers: Juniors, fullback Mac Carr, fullback Scott Kreit

Coach's comments: "The attitudesare good, and we are looking to improve. We have a tough early schedule starting with Liberty, we've got to pull off some upsets early on."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: Hibberd has a strong cast of returning players coming off a respectable season last year. One major setback is the loss of senior goalkeeper Dave Hines, who is out forthe season with a back injury. Not only did he provide steady play in goal, but also was the team's leader as co-captain. Hibberd is confident junior Engel can do the job in net. Fortunately, the Eagles have three fullbacks with varsity experience back this year to help the cause. Senior Layman and junior Coale must put the ball in the net offensively. Look for the Eagles to be somewhere in the middle of the pack of the MVAL with Brunswick, Middletown and North Hagerstown the favorites. If everything falls into place for Key, they could sneak upon those front runners and do some damage.
