Western Maryland Terrors

1991 Field Hockey Outlooks

September 08, 1991

Coach: Tricia Muneses, first year

Assistant coach: Kathy Railey

Last year's record: 6-5-2 overall, 2-3 in the Middle Atlantic Conference -- Southwest Section

Top returnees: Seniors, wing Dina Comuzzi, defender Melissa Nelson; junior, wing Jodi Livingston; sophomore, goalkeeper Sherry Albright

Top newcomers: Freshmen, goalkeeper Julie Martin, defender Heather Baily

Coach's comments: "Things arelooking very well. We have a solid nucleus of seniors and juniors. We need to work on our transition from defense and offense, but that will come with time as they play more together."

The Carroll CountySun's outlook: Coach Muneses inherits a 6-5-2 team with some solid returnees and promising newcomers. With Livingston and Comuzzi back, the offense should be in good shape. The question mark will be on defense, where the Green Terrors show very little depth. Returning goalkeeper Albright should stay busy and will have to play especially well early while the young defenders develop. To win games, this team may have to score a number of goals, though that's quite possible. Still, the Middle Atlantic Conference is one of the most competitive small-college field hockey leagues in the country, so the Green Terrors will have their work cut out for them against the likes of Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall.
