Wmc Green Terrors

1991 Cross Country Outlooks

September 08, 1991

Coach: Doug Renner, seventh year

Assistant coach: Mike Whitmore

Last year's record: MEN -- Placed 13th in the Middle Atlantic Conference championships. WOMEN -- Placed 17th in the Middle Atlantic Conference championships

Top returnees: MEN -- Seniors, Joe Embry, Guido Stubenrauch, Andrew Krevolin; sophomore, Derek Johnston. WOMEN -- Junior, Shannon Franklin; sophomores, Kendra Weible, Kristen Stockel

Top newcomers: MEN -- Senior, Kent Husted; junior, Bill Dulbow; sophomore, Dave Rodosevich. WOMEN -- Freshmen, Erin Jenkins, Mary Vellutato, Desire Cook, Jennifer Yockus

Coach's comments: MEN -- "We can be a Top 10 MAC team. Those guys (the seniors) have put a great three years into the program." WOMEN -- "I feel good about this team. I just look for (Weible) to get better. It's just a matter of gettinga good group behind her. We'll see what happens without putting a lot of pressure on the younger runners."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: MEN -- This could be the Green Terrors' best cross country team ever, a squad that could break into the top 10 in Middle Atlantic Conference. The key will be making sure the newcomers can fill in the fifth, sixth and seventh spots successfully. WOMEN -- There may be some quality on the team, but the group is lacking experience. Weible is a standout and Franklin may be returning to her high school form, but the team will need the freshmen to make an immediate impact.
