Marine Lance Cpl. Casey W. Adams, son of Sean Adams of Mayo, has been meritoriously promoted to his present rank upon graduation from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

A1990 graduate of South River High School, Adams joined the Marine Corps in April 1991.


Albert L. Miller, son of Joseph J. and Alvera M. Miller of Jessup, has been promoted in the U.S Army Air Force to the rank of master sergeant.

Miller, a senior enlisted historian at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Texas, graduated from Arundel Senior High School in 1964 and received an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force in 1990.


Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Gene M. Olmo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Olmo of Davidsonville, has graduated from the tactical aircraft maintenance specialist course at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita, Texas.

A 1985 graduate of Kings Park High School in New York, Olmo received a bachelor's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey in 1989.


Pvt. Todd L. Smith, son of Dale M. McCoy of Baltimore and Vernon Smith of Annapolis, has completed training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

The private is a 1985 graduate of Old Mill Senior High School in Millersville.


Staff Sgt.Gary T. Pickwoad, son of Alfred E. and Josephine B. Pickwoad of Severna Park, has re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after eight years of military service.

Pickwoad is a communication-computers systems programming technician at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.

A 1979 graduate of Severna Park Senior High School, he received an associate'sdegree in 1988 from the Community College of the Air Force.


Benjamin K. Hach, son of Kenneth R. and Bonnie J. Hach of Riva, received practical work in military leadership at the ROTC advanced camp at Fort Lewis in Takoma, Wash.

Hach is a student at Colorado State University. Successful completion of the camp and graduation from college results in a commission as a second lieutenantin the U.S. Army or Reserve.


Army Pvt. 1st Class Michael L. Pinkosz, son of Michael Pinkosz and Lesley J. Wardof Glen Burnie, has returned to duty station from Operation Provide.

Pinkosz is an infantryman at Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy. The operation provided security, food, shelter and medical care for Kurdish refugees in Turkey and northern Iraq.

The private is a 1989 graduate of Andover High School.


Army National Guard Pvt. Denard C. Carey, son of Willis M. Carey of Temple Hills, and Angela M. Carey of Severn, has completed training at the U.S.Army Infantry School at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

Carey is a 1991 graduate of Largo High School.


ArmyPvt. Kimberly A. Humphrey, daughter of Joan A. Savage of Annapolis and granddaughter of Doris Dorsey of Odenton, has arrived for duty at Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

Humphrey, a tactical satellite-microwave mechanic, is a 1989 graduate of Southern High School.
