Hospital to open emergency room

Good Samaritan Hospital in Northeast Baltimore will open its new emergency room to the public on Oct. 1.

Before the extensive renovations to and expansion of the emergency center were completed, the hospital, at 5601 Loch Raven Blvd., only accepted ambulance patients with cardiac problems and walk-in emergencies.

The emergency facility, which includes new diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, will bring emergency care closer to residents of the Harford Road and Northern Parkway corridors.

Residents of those areas are now taken to Union Memorial Hospital near Memorial Stadium or to Franklin Square Hospital in Essex.
