Earl K. Holt Broadcast engineer

Services for Earl K. Holt, a retired engineer for WBAL radio and television stations, will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Liberty Reformed Presbyterian Church, 11301 Liberty Road.

Mr. Holt, who was 69, died Wednesday after an apparent heart attack at his home on Marriottsville Road in Randallstown.

He retired 12 years ago after working for WBAL since 1946.

A native of Woodsboro and a graduate of the Walkersville High School, he studied radio and electricity at schools in Baltimore and Chicago.

During World War II, he first served in the U.S. Army but was wounded during maneuvers in Hawaii, then, after being discharged, served as a radio officer aboard merchant ships.

He served as an elder and deacon at the Liberty Reformed Presbyterian Church and earlier was a deacon at the Colonial Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Belle Smith; a son, Dennis Earl Holt of Houston; a daughter, Marla Deborah Tibbels of Towson; two brothers, Charles L. Holt of New Midway and Markel E. Holt of Essex; seven grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.
