ROBBERY: Western District -- Clare Lewis, of the 1800 block (( of Braddish Ave., reported she was walking in the 1800 block of Ashburton St. when a man stole her purse, which contained cash and property of unknown value.

BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Penrose Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through a front window and stole a telephone answering machine, compact discs and a gold chain, all valued at more than $1,600.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police said Melvin Harris, a homeless man, reported that he was in the 2700 block of Pennsylvania Ave. when he was attacked by two men who knocked him to the pavement and robbed him of his wallet containing cash and papers. Police said the men also robbed Harris of his watch, and that the property taken was valued at more than $100.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A resident of the 2000 block of McCulloh St. reported that someone broke into her home and stole a VCR and a TV, valued at more than $500.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $1,000 was stolen from a dwelling in the 1800 block of Madison Ave. after someone got in through a door. Police said the burglar escaped with a video camera, AM-FM radio and several cassette tapes.

THEFT: Central District -- Louise Morgan, of the 2000 block of E. Pratt St., reported that while her car was parked in the 200 block of E. Pratt St. someone broke into it and stole a 35mm camera, a radio and other items, all valued at more than $1,500.

ASSAULT: Central District -- Everett Jones, of the 1700 block of Eutaw Place, told police he was walking near his home yesterday when he was stopped by two men. Jones told police when one of the men asked him for a cigarette, the other pulled out a knife and cut him on the leg.

THEFT: Central District -- Sherman Sharp, of the 600 block of N. Hunter St., told police that someone entered his home and stole two wallets, a camera and other items, all valued at more than $1,000.

CAB HOLDUP: Central District -- Police today were seeking two men who robbed a taxi driver of his money and keys early Wednesday on Brookfield Avenue. Police said the cabbie was in the 2200 block of Brookfield Ave. when two men he had picked up earlier told him to stop. Police said one of the men pulled out a handgun and ordered the driver to give up his money. After taking $140, the men took the cab's keys from the ignition and fled.

ROBBERY/ARREST: Central District -- Teena Grant, of the 3800 block of Garrison Blvd., reported she was walking in the 300 block of N. Eutaw St. around 6 a.m. yesterday when a man knocked her to the ground and stole her MTA bus pass. Later, police arrested a suspect and were holding him at the station pending charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Glenda Mosner, an out-of-town resident, told police she was walking in the 1000 block of Jordan Alley early yesterday when a man struck her with a length of wood and robbed her of property valued at more than $500. Police said the man escaped with a jacket and several pieces of jewelry.

THEFT: Central District -- Police reported that someone entered a construction site in the 300 block of N. Greene St. and stole property owned by a Waco, Texas, roofing company valued at nearly $12,000.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A resident of the 2300 block of N. Calvert St. reported that someone broke into his home through the front door and stole a TV set, VCR and stereo equipment, all valued at nearly $4,000.

THEFT: Central District -- An employee of a Massachusetts electronics firm reported that someone broke into his company-owned vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of S. Eutaw St. and stole golfing equipment valued at nearly $1,000.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police today were seeking two men who entered the Gross plastic top company at an industrial park in the 3500 block of Parkdale Ave. yesterday morning and accosted a company employee in a restroom. One man pulled out a sawed-off shotgun and they robbed the employee of his briefcase, which contained $150.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 2400 block of Kenoak Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through a rear kitchen window and stole silverware, a camera and jewelry, all valued at nearly $2,800.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $1,000 was stolen from a dwelling in the 500 block of E. 27th St. after someone got in through an unlocked front door. Police said the burglar escaped with a VCR and two pairs of leather pants.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 5200 block of Gallagher Court reported that a video camera valued at $1,000 was stolen from his home by someone who entered through a rear basement window.
