Redistricting

It's your call

September 05, 1991

Callers from throughout the metropolitan region tell SUNDIAL in overwhelming numbers that the proposed congressional redistricting plan is unfair. The negative response ranged from a low of almost 80 percent in Anne Arundel County to a high of more than 94 percent in Baltimore County.

Here's the tally from the six jurisdictions:

City -- Of 112 callers, 99 (88 percent) say the plan is unfair, 13 say it's fair.

Anne Arundel County -- Of 84 callers, 67 (79.7 percent) say unfair, 17 say fair.

Baltimore County -- Of 437 callers, 413 (94 percent) say unfair, 24 say fair.

Carroll County -- Of 30 callers, 25 (83 percent) say unfair, 5 say fair.

Harford County -- Of 34 callers, 30 (88 percent) say unfair, 4 say fair.

Howard County -- Of 31 callers, 27 (87 percent) say unfair, 4 say fair.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as a scientific public opinion poll would be.
