September 05, 1991

An apparent drive-by shooting in Southeast Baltimore yesterday afternoon killed two businessmen and left city police searching for clues.

Police said the shooting occurred at 5:55 p.m. yesterday in the parking lot of the Point Breeze industrial park in the 2200 block of Broening Highway. As the two men walked outside after a business meeting at the Baltimore International Warehousing Co., at least three shots were fired from a passing car. One man, identified as John Shotto, 52, of Bel Air, was struck in the head and the second man, Raymond Nicholson, of Prince George's County, was shot once in the body.

Mr. Shotto was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Nicholson, who was affiliated with the warehousing company, was taken to the Francis Scott Key Medical Center for emergency surgery but died about 9:30 last night.

Police have no suspects or motives.
