A 37-year-old West Baltimore man was shot and killed early today on a street near his home during an argument about narcotics, city police said.

Howard V. Witherspoon, of the 1400 block of Bruce St., was pronounced dead about 1:20 a.m. after being shot several times in the chest.

Homicide detectives said Witherspoon was seen talking to two men on the street near his home moments before the shooting.

In another case, detectives were seeking a 30-year-old woman in connection with the stabbing death of George Anderson, 40, of the 600 block of Pitcher St. in West Baltimore.

Police believe the suspect, Eva Jennings, stabbed Anderson once in the chest with a knife during a dispute Aug. 27 in the home they shared.

Anderson was hospitalized at University Hospital until he died yesterday afternoon from the wound, police said. Jennings is charged in a warrant with first-degree murder.
