Michael Andretti smashes wall, record

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Michael Andretti had a run-in with a wall yesterday, but recovered to win the pole position for today's Vancouver Molson-Indy with a record-breaking lap.

He had just taken possession of the top qualifying spot for the first time about 10 minutes into the 30-minute session when he clipped a concrete barrier while moving quickly through a relatively slow hairpin turn.
