August 29, 1991

A 22-year-old Columbia man was killed yesterday when a car in which he was a passenger collided head-on with another vehicle in Howard County, police said.

The victim, identified by police as Christopher Hope, 22, of the 9000 block of Wetbanks Court, was pronounced dead after being flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.

Police said Mr. Hope was in the back seat of a small sports car that crossed over the center line of Old Annapolis Road, just north of Columbia Road in Columbia, about 7:30 a.m. and struck a southbound car.

The driver of the sports car, David Walker, 18, of the 4300 block of Wild Filly Court in Ellicott City, and a second passenger, Jeffrey Bradshaw, were flown to Shock Trauma along with the driver of the second vehicle, Richard Cohen, of the 3700 block of Garand Road in Ellicott City.

Mr. Walker was in critical condition last night and the other two in serious but stable condition, according to a hospital spokesman.
