Aacc Appoints Pounds

Augustine W. Pounds, a senior associate with the American Council onEducation in Washington, D.C., and administrator at Iowa State University, has been named vice president and dean for student services atAnne Arundel Community College.

Pounds' appointment to succeed the late Anthony V. Pappas Jr. concludes a national search conducted bythe college during the last three months.

Pounds, a Silver Spring resident, is responsible for a full rangeof student services on and off campus. They include academic advising, admissions, financial aid, minority and foreign students, records,veteran affairs and more.

Active on numerous academic, civic and professional levels, Pounds is the author of several publications, two of which focus on enhancing the success of black students on predominantly white campuses.

Her professional affiliations include the American Association of University Women, American Council on Education-National Identification Program and the National Association of Women Educators in Education.
