Buffet Meal Available Saturday At New Windsor Service Center

For the lover of fine food, this weekend features cuisine from the Philippines on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the New Windsor Service Center.

A buffet meal with chicken asparagus soup, adobong baboy (marinated pork adobo), rellenong (baked stuffed chicken), Philippine fried rice, guisadong sitao (yardlong green beans), mais guisado (sauteed corn), dipping sauces, putong puti (rice muffins) and pineapple-lemon punch will be served in the Conference Center.

Cost of the meal is $8 per person, $5 for children 6 and under. Handcrafts from the Philippines will be displayed and sold in the International Gift Shop, open 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Before heading over to New Windsor, check out the weekly CarrollCounty Farmers Market 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the AgCenter on Smith Avenue.

This week's feature is a demonstration by Marlene Lufriuand Barbara Steele of Alloway Gardens, Littlestown, Pa., who will show you how to grow, process, use, arrange, price and store dried flowers for fun and profit.

Also learn how to make and stencil potpourri bags from Mary Lees Gunther.

It's a holiday weekend, and if you're starting early and can't wait tillFriday to have some fun, try Piney Run Park's Mickey Mouse Cruise pontoon ride around the lake and explore the park animal life at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow.

Bring your favorite Disney character along for the ride.

The day begins at 1 p.m. with a Bring A Buddy Cruise. Youngsters can bring mom or dad, grandpa or grandma, best friend or favoritestuffed toy for a ride around the lake.

The day finishes with an Afternoon Delight cruise for all ages at 4 p.m.

Cost for each of the cruises is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children. Reservations should be made.

Calling all fishermen! Bring your rod and tackle box to Piney Run Park for an evening of fishing at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The park will provide earthworms and fishing tips as you sail toPiney Run Lake's best fishing spots. The event is for all ages, but those 16 years and older need a fishing license.

Cost is $3 for adults and $1.50 for children.
