ASSAULT: Central District -- Richard Marsiglia, of the 3600 block of E. Pratt St., reported he was assaulted by a man with a lead pipe when he went to the aid of his stepsister during an incident in the 300 block of Light St. Police said Marsiglia was not seriously injured and that the man escaped.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Police reported that someone broke into the Corner grocery store in the 700 block of N. Bruce St. and stole 70 cartons of cigarettes and an unknown sum of money. Police said the cigarettes were valued at more than $1,100.

THEFT: Central District -- City employees reported that someone entered their office in the 400 block of E. Fayette St. and stole a calculator valued at $200 off a desk.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Martha Carr, of the 3600 block of W. Belvedere Ave., told police she was in the 400 block of W. Lexington St. Monday morning when a man approached her from behind and stole her purse. Police said the purse contained $20 in cash. Later, police arrested a suspect and were holding him pending charges.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A resident of the 900 block of Argyle Ave. reported that someone broke into his home and stole a VCR valued at $200 and $40 in cash.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 800 block of Park Ave. and stole a jacket, boots and other personal items. Police said the value of the property was not immediately known and that entry was gained through a back door.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Property valued at more than $1,000 was reported stolen from a dwelling in the 1700 block of Bolton St. after someone broke into the home. Police said the intruder escaped with a bed, furniture and a refrigerator.

RAPE: Central District -- A 15-year-old girl reported to police she was in the 300 block of McMechen St. Sunday night when a man she knows forced her into a car at gunpoint and raped her. Police said the girl was taken to a hospital for treatment and released. Police said a man wearing a T-shirt with the face of an African male on the front was being sought.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Edward Rose, of the 1200 block of Argyle Ave., reported he was in the 600 block of W. Lanvale St. when he was attacked by a man who struck him over the head and robbed him of his wristwatch. Police said the watch was valued at $40.

ROBBERY: Central District -- John Nort, of the 3100 block of St. Paul St., reported he was attacked by two men who robbed him of his watch and cash. Police said the property was valued at nearly $200 and that the robbery occurred early yesterday in the 1800 block of N. Charles St.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Central District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the station pending charges that he broke into a dwelling in the 2100 block of Maryland Ave. and stole property valued at more than $200. Police recovered the victim's property.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Employees of Morton's clothing store in the 300 block of W. Lexington St. reported that someone broke into the building and stole several pieces of clothing. Police said the value of the property was unknown and that entry was gained by breaking a window.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Marvin Noble, of the 500 block of McMechen St., reported he was seated in his car near his home yesterday when two men approached and asked for a ride. Police said when Noble refused, the men forced Noble out of his car at gunpoint and drove off.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a garage in the 4200 block of Westview Road and stole two 10-speed bikes. Police said the property was valued at more than $200 and that entry was gained through a window.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1200 block of Northview Road reported the theft of property valued at more than $800 after someone gained entry into his home through a window. Police said the burglar escaped with a bike and cash.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police said a multi-speed bike and several compact discs were stolen from a dwelling in the 5400 block of Northwood Drive. Police said the property was valued at more than $800 and that the burglary occurred yesterday.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Lamont Hyman, of the 1700 block of N. Fulton Ave., reported that while he was riding a bike in the 1700 block of Etting St. early Monday he was stopped by a man with a handgun who threatened to kill him if he didn't give up his property. Police said the gunman robbed Hyman of his bike, tennis shoes, $20 and his wristwatch before riding off. Police said the property was valued at more than $600.
