School-based Teen Outreach holds an open meeting tonight

Teen Outreach Program of Baltimore, a school-based program designed to raise the self-esteem of middle-school students and reduce dropouts, pregnancies and drug abuse, will hold an open meeting tonight at 7 o'clock at the Junior League Headquarters, 4803 Roland Ave. Anyone interested in learning more about the program should attend. Kunta Kinte Commemoration and Heritage Festival needs volunteers for all aspects of this fifth celebration of the arrival of Kunta Kinte in Annapolis, which is being held Sept. 19-29 in Annapolis and also features the creative and artistic contributions of African-Americans to this country's culture. Howard County Sexual Assault Center wants volunteers for the 24-hour hot line and for crisis counseling, assistance and accompaniment through hospital, police and court procedures. All shifts are available. Training begins in late September. Call Sheila Begg, 964-0504.

Baltimore County ''Most Beautiful'' Contest wants citizens to nominate friends, neighbors or family who volunteer their time to others. The contest nominations began July 2 and the deadline is Sept. 11. Nomination forms are available at the county's library branches or by calling the Baltimore County Executive Office at 887-2450. Nominees will be honored at a ceremony in October.

Maryland Lupus Foundation Inc. volunteers and staff will hold free support group meetings at noon Sept. 7 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Conference Room 1; at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Foundation office, 7400 York Road; at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at Druid Park Business Center, 2901 Druid Park Drive.
